Sarah Malik has briefed and/or argued approximately twenty cases before the Court of Appeals and the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland. Her cases have covered the full spectrum of family law issues: common law and validity of marriage, child support, alimony, financial support modifications, physical and legal custody, child relocation, modifications of custody, division of marital property and debt and attorney's fees.
Ms. Malik's work has resulted in two appellate decisions by Maryland's highest court: Tshiani v. Tshiani, 466 Md. 255 (2013) (comity and proof of valid marriage) and Santo v. Santo, 448 Md. 620 (2016) (joint legal custody with tie-breaking provisions).
Ms. Malik works closely with attorneys and clients in this area. Her scope of work includes review and editing of briefs, researching, writing and oral argument preparation and coaching. Ms. Malik's extensive experience in the appellate field allows her to evaluate the likelihood of success in pursuing an appeal.
